Benefits and How to Use It

Ginger is a super ingredient. It can elevate a boring dish, cure nausea (I lived on ginger hard candy my whole first trimester), and even work wonders on your mane. We checked in with Jane Lee, founder of JINJER, about the amazing properties of ginger. She even dished on how to harness its wonders to grow your hair. Yes, you can use ginger for hair growth. Find out how below!

Hair Benefits of Ginger

Ginger contains numerous benefits to the physical body and mind,” says Jane. “Some of its benefits are to help reduce inflammation, relieve neuropathic pain, eliminate toxins in the body, aid in lymphatic drainage, and empower the mind.”

That’s because of gingerol, a natural bioactive compound found in ginger. Jane notes it provides powerful anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects. “It is also responsible for the distinct aroma and flavor that ginger brings,” she shares.

Ginger for Hair Growth

Everything about ginger is wondrous. “Ginger is packed with antioxidants and antibacterial properties. This helps with issues such as dandruff, brittle hair, and hair loss,” Jane says. “Ginger helps to improve the circulation of the scalp and stimulates each hair follicle, thus promoting hair growth. In addition, the vitamins, minerals, and fatty acids in ginger contribute to strengthening hair strands to combat hair loss and to restoring moisture loss,” she continues.

How to Use Ginger on Your Hair

To reap the most benefit from ginger, soak it in at the source. “On the scalp, you can apply freshly grated ginger juice two to three times a week to maximize hair growth. Apply it to your hair and rinse it off after 30 minutes with a mild shampoo.” Ginger goes a long way. You can use it on the body as well. “Or if you like, you could use ginger essential oil (that’s mixed with a carrier oil) to massage the body to relieve any sore muscles. Because ginger is very strong, it’s best to avoid using it around sensitive areas, such as eyes, nose, and broken skin.”

There are various ways to add more ginger to your life whether you want to mask it, soak it, or drink it. “Ginger essential oil mixed with a carrier oil can be used to massage the body to relieve any tension, aches, and inflammation. You can also create a DIY ginger hair mask to massage onto the scalp to help promote a healthier scalp and hair. Lastly, you can take ginger supplements or drink ginger tea to absorb its benefits into your body.”

Jinjer is an easy solution to fulfill your ginger needs. Our goal for Jinjer is to rejuvenate the mind and body with this natural ginger root. We encourage women to take the break they deserve and rejuvenate their mind and body because we believe it’s important to make time and prioritize our health.” So take that break and use it to grow your hair!
